Company Profile and History
From the time that I installed my first pickup phase switch in my own Les Paul®
in 1979, I was hooked on the different tonal variations that could be created on
an electric guitar just by re-routing the wiring or adding a component or two.
Since that first modification, I have discovered and designed many cool wiring
techniques.
After years of doing repairs and mods to the guitars of friends and band mates,
my first shop, TGS Technologies was formed in Macon Georgia in the early 1990's.
Soon after that, I began buying used instruments- repairing, modifying, then
reselling them.
After awhile, I was doing more "structural" repairs than electronics modifications. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy doing general repairs, but my first love was always the electronics. It's all about the tone. So I changed the name to Hinesley Audio Systems and started building control upgrades. The name was condensed to HAS Sound, and here we are. By the way, even though most everyone pronounces it "has", it is actually H-A-S Sound....but I'll usually answer to just about anything ;-). My last name is pronounced with a long "i", like Heinz 57.
In 2005, I added my own line of custom
handwound pickups.
About Me
My name is Stan Hinesley and I am a musician. I began playing guitar at age thirteen, and a few
years later switched to bass. By the time I turned fifteen, I was performing
pretty regularly around town. In 1976, I started playing six-nighters with a
local oldies/ disco/ jazz/ top-40 show band called Encore, and in 1980 I
hit the southeast club circuit with The Ohio Express (Yummy, Yummy).
During this time I also held down several "day jobs" such as cabinet builder,
cashier, appliance refinisher, aircraft electrical/electronics repair, record
store manager and shoe repairman. All of these experiences, in their own rights,
paved the way for HAS Sound.
During the eighties, I toured with Angel's Flight...a great little
rock/new wave club band out of Central Florida and had the pleasure to work with
John Cook from the Orlando/Winter Park area, one of the finest guitarists I've
ever heard. John if you're out there, I'd love to hear from you...
During the nineties, I played around Macon in a
weekend country trio called Derringer.
I have done guitar and amp work since I first started playing. In the early
nineties I attended Middle Georgia Tech in Macon Georgia to study electronics.
In 1997 I opened TGS Technologies in Macon.
I relocated TGS Technologies to South Florida in 1998 and in 2004 it morphed
into HAS
Sound.
My Hobbies
In addition to playing bass and building electronics, I also collect headless
basses and guitars (like the Steinberger). The more unique, the better.
Sometimes in the very near future I plan to dedicate a page on this site
showcasing my collection to date. I'm always interested in buying, if the price
is right.
I'm currently
looking in particular for a Washburn Bantam (single or doubleneck), a Westone Rail and a
Fleishman B-IV, but all others are considered as well.
I'm also looking for headless bass/guitar cases and gig bags.
