Stan Hinesley Kashmir/Zen Set "Stan, I had the pickups installed by one of the best guitar players and guitar techs in the state. Many regard him as the states best guitar player. I got it all on tape and will use it in my promotion of your products. I asked the guy what he thought about the pick ups he told me they were to good for the guitar! He said that the high output bridge and the lower output neck combination was what he preferred more importantly he played the guitar and told me that the quality of work was as good as it gets and rated it a 9 out of ten, why not a ten? He told me that if they were in a high end Gibson he would give them a ten. He was impressed with the workmanship and sound of the pickups and this guy knows his stuff he owns the best guitar store in the City. We metered the pickups and installed the bridge measured a 12.9 and the neck measures 7.4. The guitar also looks fantastic. I will edit the video, do the narration and send you a link when its done sometime soon after the holiday. You are the real deal and believe me when Art at Hansen Music in Billings, Montana says your stuff is great buddy there is no doubt about it. Stan Hinesley Memphis Blues Tele Set "Hey Stan- Finally got a guitar built for those Tele pickups you sent me. I just got it last night, plugged it into one of the Marshall's at the store, and holy crap! They sound great. I also threw in a stock Squire Tele neck pickup in the mid position for some of the Straty in between tones. I've got 'em wired up in a trick wiring scheme for some series and out of phase stuff :)
I love the out of phase tones. I don't know how many people try to play funk on a telecaster, but it was perfect. At in store volumes they were reeeeeal quiet, even solo or in non hum canceling settings. Anyhow, thanks for those pickups, they sound great!"

HAS Sound PB1 P-bass Harness "I never knew that my highway one P-bass had so many great tones hiding in it! I got the special tone capacitor. The combination of this and the mid control is amazing. Every tone is usable, from straight ahead wide open P-bass to great scooped slap tone and deep deep dub tone when the mid control is rolled all the way off. There are so many sweet spots where you have two very usable tones that are just a quick knob pull apart.

Stan Hinesley Viper/Zen  Set "Stan, I've installed the pickups on my USACG. Coil-tapped, they sound a lot better than I expected. The Zen you recommended sound perfect at the neck. I can get really nice warm bluesy sounds with it. It doesn't have overwhelming mids like other neck pickups I've tried. The Viper at the bridge is great too. The harmonics a screaming on that thing. HAS Sound Custom Harness "My 15 year old Gibson ES335 was having 'issues'. Specifically, noisy pots and intermittent crackling caused by poorly soldered connections in the harness assembly. Stan Hinesley Hybrid Plus Bass Set "The split J is dead quiet even soloed. Finally, a great sounding J without the hum. Last night at a practice I actually used just the J, something I tended not to do much in the past. Extremely balanced from string to string and a nice throaty/vintagy J sound. The volume/balance between the J and P are equal, another first for me, I was always having to turn up the J when in a band setting. The P is much more authoritative in the lows, punchy and articulate, rather than blurred. Besides Stan's help and the quality of product I am thrilled with these pickups."

Stan Hinesley Hellion Pickup "Got the Hellion few days back. and let's see, ordered on 29th Dec, arrived at my doorstep on 11th Jan - that was barely 2 weeks! Dirty Rice Passive Overdrive "I was looking for a way to get a slight bit of "edge" in my sound but all of the OD pedals and effects boxes I tried gave me way more than I wanted. Then I ordered and installed two Dirty Rice passive overdrive units in a couple of my guitars and I found that they were EXACTLY what I was looking for. Varitone Plus "I bought a Varitone with the midrange control on a whim to install in a heavily modified Squire '51 because there is a spot that is kind of empty, I thought it was screaming for something different. I had never tried one before, and I shopped around for the best unit for me. I am extremely glad I ordered from Stan at HAS Sound. Before I got to routing my guitar for the unit, I thought how great it would be to be able to use the Varitone on all my guitars. So I asked around, and it looked like it would work by putting it in a stompbox. Stan told me how to wire it, and I used a Barge VFB-2 feedback/looper to house the VT+. There is just enough room by moving 2 jacks, and I tried it out with my 2 main guitars. It's awesome. The tone is full & rich and does not sound like you have something in the way. Nothing like an eq pedal or a cocked wah. Rather, it makes a pickup sound like another make/model to my ears. Darker, fatter, more jangly, more scooped, alot of sounds are available. Both Duncan Seth Lovers and Bill Lawrence strat pickups (280N,200M,298B) work great! This will be a very useful tool for tone shaping, and if I want it off, it's true bypass. I am thrilled at this purchase, as I thought the Varitone might be limited. Not so -the midrange pot makes all the difference in finding a sweet spot. The push-pull feature helps alot too, and it is just a super versatile tone-shaper that does not degrade tone at all. You can already see that I am very pleased. Great job Stan! Thank you for helping me make music! "

Custom Bass Harness "Stan Hinesley of HAS Sound is gaining in fame as a pickup builder and a supplier of standard and custom wiring harnesses. All I can say is, if players who are buying his handiwork are as impressed as I am, he's not going to be 'underground' for long! While perusing the many controls available through HAS Sound, it occurred to me that I should lay out the absolute optimum passive control set using the three existing control holes in the (Steinberger) XZ-25. Looking through the options I came up with: 1) master volume with mute, 2) five-way pickup selector, and 3) bass Varitone. Well, I placed my order with Stan, and he had it built and in my hands in less than a week. Pretty impressive turnaround. The controls were soldered together and ready to go. All that was required was mounting the pots, soldering the pickup leads to the pickup selector, and soldering black and white leads from the volume control to the output jack. Easily accomplished! Plugged it in, and WOW! Expecting merely an improved version of volume/blend/tone, I was truly floored. Thanksgiving thanks go to Stan for a remarkable upgrade to one of my favorite basses!"

JB1 J Blender Harness "I'm sure many of you would wonder why I would spend $79 on a wiring harness and pots. Oddly enough this this is the best $79 I have ever spent on bass gear, without question! My P/J bass, and others I've owned in the past, always lacked the ability to go from pure P tones incrementally to that throaty J tone. The blender control was always a full on or full off affair. The middle indent usually sounded more like a P that a blend of both pickups and on top of that, the P was always louder. At times I wondered what the point really was. I was having some grounding issues and found Stan of Has Sound on the Internet. He has been very helpful with people's problems on TalkBass.com. I asked him some questions and he always answered, never trying to sell me anything. I saw his link and found his pots/wiring harness and thought, since I was going to dig into the bass and shield it that it would be a good time to try out his harness. It arrived quickly, and was custom made because I didn't want any solder points on the back of the pots. The harness is a work of art, and the tone control is a proprietary setup that looks like something from Star Wars. The tone control even has a pull/push switch for mid cut. My bass is now dead quiet. The blend control works incrementally from P to a nice evenly blended P/J sound at the indent and all the way to that unmistakable J tone. It has made my bass way more functional, without all the trial and error and guesswork otherwise associated to getting it just right. Stan was extremely helpful and courteous throughout. I  want to try some of his pickups now."

Custom Concentric Pot "I wanted to install the EMG Kerry King pickup set in a Schecter Diamond Series S-1 Elite. The problem was that there are not enough holes for 2 tone, 2 volume the 3-way selector and the PA2 booster. Stan's custom 25K concentric pots were the perfect solution! I was able to easily install the pickups and controls without drilling new holes in the guitar. The result is outstanding! Custom Varitone Control "Absolutely amazing. I had Stan wire me up a custom varitone circuit- pos. 1 mid boost (like his mid plus control all the way up) + Dirty Rice passive OD, pos. 2-4 notch filters (as per a regular varitone), pos 5 mid cut (as his mid control all the way down) + Dirty Rice. You combine this with a 1 meg vol pot, a no-limit tone control, and some ebay special hot humbuckers, and you've just turned a cheap strat copy into a phenomenal guitar with a whole palette of tones. This is seriously the loudest guitar I own! The varitone circuit lets me coax out all kinds of sounds, from mid heavy blues tone to twangy country double stops. I can't say enough good things."

Midrange Plus/Tone Control  "The conversations that I was having with agonizing predictability invariably went something like this: 'Nah mate – go for active circuitry. You can’t boost or scoop mids on a tone control without a battery.' Then I stumbled across HAS Sound. It’s not often that you’re reminded that an on-line company is actually manned by an actual real life human being – especially someone who responds to questions so quickly (seriously, send him a question and he’ll respond in minutes rather than weeks regardless of time-zone differences. Conclusion; the man never sleeps!!!). So after a little banter back and forth I ordered the Midrange Plus control / Woman Tone control (I also ordered a bespoke variation on this control from Stan but I’m yet to install it). Delivery was quick, the part easy to install and the sound?…The sound is just staggering on the Woman tone side alone (which was an unexpected bonus for me as I was concentrating on the midrange aspect of the unit) – I hooked this up to the bridge pickup which I admit is unusual, but hellishly versatile (the other tone control affects the middle pickup – no tone control on the neck) – it’s as if the tonal range of the bridge pickup has been doubled or should I say quadrupled? And get this- they’re all usable tones. The Woman Tone doesn’t loose clarity or get muddy or distant when rolled off; it still has an edge and conversely doesn’t get too shrill when opened up. It almost sounds like an ‘in-between’ pickup position. The Midrange Plus side of the control can be subtle on a clean setting - the original sound is retained but now the option to fatten the tone comes into play adding warmth without flattening the over all sound. When opened up on a clean channel there is a barely audible difference between the original sound and the scooped sound – but then again this is the bridge pickup of a Strat! On a high gain channel the difference is much more noticeable - The single coil producing a classic 80’s type V-scoop sound when opened up whilst emphasizing the ‘hollow’ sound of a Strat’s single coils – nice! To summarise, this midrange plus/tone control gives me direct access to a massive tonal range without loosing the inherent qualities of the original pickup and resonance of the guitar’s wood, what’s more, I can dial in these sounds quickly at source. I sincerely believe that if you’re looking to retain the visual character of your guitar and want to explore/expand more of your instrument’s primary tone then these modifications are the most unobtrusive available and yield fantastic results without loosing the sounds that you’re already comfortable with. Nice one Stan!"

Custom LP1 Les Paul Harness "I was tired of the lousy stock tone controls on my guitar and found Stan on the web. I e-mailed and asked if he could do a three pickup Les Paul wiring harness. He told me he could not find the switch. So I contacted Gibson, who pointed me to a dealer. I told Stan about it and he purchased the switch and made me an upgraded custom LP1 wiring harness. He charged me only for a standard LP1 since I had done my own 'footwork' to locate the switch. Stan provided high quality customer service, parts, and craftsmanship, along with state of the art innovative design. My 1979 Les Paul Artisan never sounded better. The master tone control combined with a midrange control greatly expands the range of tonal colors. A 1 meg volume pot combined with a high output humbucker in the bridge position added some punch and high end frequency. The tone controls allow the player to dial in the amount of warmth he desires, while maintaining clear high notes.

Stan Hinesley Kashmir and Legacy Pickups "I wasn't happy with my custom guitar's electronics. It's a PRS/ES335 type hollow body. I talked at length with Stan and he recommended his Legacy on the bridge and his Kashmir on neck. I played a few gigs with them and was happy. However, when my MIDI was having problems the Tech convinced me to install Duncans (Jazz in neck and JB in bridge). The sound just wasn't there. The Stan Hinesley pickups killed the Duncans. I had his pickups installed again because they had a more rounded sound, more response and just better tone. Stan is also a great person, very courteous and knowledgeable. I highly recommend his pickups."

Stan Hinesley Hybrid Bass Pickup Set and Harness "I found Stan on eBay when I was looking for a P/J set of passive pickups to replaced my aged, and zingy, EMG 81s in my 1979 Koa Precision Bass. I emailed him about making a set for me, with a P-Bass pickup that sounds, well, like your typical, meaty, round, P-Bass, and a Jazz bridge pickup that has "that Jazz Bass sound." Further, I wanted a harness with dual stacked tone/volume pots, à la the 1960 Fender Deluxe Model Bass. Stan NAILED it: with the Jazz bridge pickup off = classic P-Bass; or with the Jazz all the way up and the P pickup rolled off just a little = Jazz Bass sound. I have both and American P-Bass and an American Jazz Bass, so I can accurately make these comparisons. Stan was also prompt with answers to my questions, and asked me the right questions about what I was looking for as well. If you need pickups, Has Sound is the first and only place you need to hook you up. I'll be back..."

KS1 Strat Harness "Stan gave me an incredible deal on a KS1 harness with Kent Armstrong Texas Vintage Strat pickups. Just because it was slightly used, he knocked off over half the price. Now that I've actually installed them and played them on my Fender Strat project guitar, I feel like I ripped him off. Originally, this setup was bought specifically for Texas blues style playing. Little did I know his harness could do so much more. Obviously, the pickup combinations are a treat, particularly being able to use all three in either series or parallel. The real joy, however, was when I started to dial in tones with the master tone control and the midrange plus control. I was speechless when I heard what they could do to my sound. Replacement Parts  "I have several guitars, but one that ranks very high on my playlist is my '62 Strat®. I've been unable to play it for several years due to a neck problem, though. I'd been hesitant to let anyone work on it until now - I contacted Stan, and after several conversations I felt he was the one to do the job. There were three reasons for this: He obviously knew what he was talking about technically, he seemed to really care about the instrument and my concern that the repair - if not done correctly - would ruin the guitar, and I got a really good vibe from him. Stan lives about 3 hours from me, and I had never met him in person - but it felt right and I took the chance. A week later I drove back across state to pick up the guitar, and all was well - I now know that I can trust Stan completely. It plays beautifully, and the neck is sound. I waited until my next gig to give it the brutal workout I normally treat my guitars to - and it held up. That '62 is a tone monster, and it's a pleasure to be able to wrestle with it again!
